let's leave the world for the ones Riley found herself standing behind the counter, waiting for customers to come in so that she could take their order. It was almost time for her to meet up with her friends but she was too focused on her job that it had slipped her mind. Her friends had come into the bakery and she sighed as she remained behind the counter even though they had stopped just in front of her. "Riley... Almost ready?" One had asked and she looked over her shoulder to see that her parents weren't down stairs yet. "Not yet." She answered just as another customer walked in. She ignored her friends as she took care of the customer, not appearing interested in the fact that her parents hadn't come down yet. "Its almost time though." Her friend replied back as she waited for Riley to finish up with the customer.
"Yeah I know but I can't leave until they come down stairs." She turned her head to look towards the stairs just as her parents came down to join her. "See you in a few minutes?" Her friend asked as Riley made her way up the stairs to change into her swim suit but changed her mind after a few minutes. She had come back downstairs to join up with her friend. "Your wearing that to go swimming?" Her friend had asked her as they walked out the front door. "No, I decided I wasn't in the mood." She walked with her friends to the beach, when they got there she took her shoes off to walk the shore as they left her to go swimming.

you know what they say,
yeah, the wicked get no rest
a small yawn escaped his lips as he rubbed his eyes and turned over to look at the clock. it was rare for him to sleep in. he had gotten used to getting up early. of course the occasional day off wasn't going to ruin his sleep schedule. honestly it wasn't that late. it was only eight am.
usually he was up by six. when one worked at the bakery, they didn't have time to sleep in. he didn't mind it though. he slowly got out of bed and started his usual routine. thinking about what he was going to have for breakfast as he went through the tasks.
once he got into the kitchen he cooked up some eggs, potatoes and onions into a pan. he thought about what he was going to do that day. he really didn't have anything planned. he figured he'd just do whatever needed to be done around the house.
a couple of hours later and he was walking towards the beach. he hadn't planned on it, it sort of just came to mind. he hadn't gone swimming in what seemed like forever. in a backpack, he had his towel, sunscreen, some snacks and a book. if he didn't decide to swim at least he could relax, catch some rays and read. he walked around until he found a nice spot, that wasn't too close to large groups. he laid his towel out, grabbed his book and proceeded to read.

let's leave the world for the ones Riley looked out at the water as she slowly strolled the shoreline. It was a nice day today, though she wasn't in much of a mood for swimming which is why she had left it at home, wearing her outfit from earlier when she had worked her shift. The breeze was nice, as was walking in the sand as her left hand held her shoes. There were plenty of people on the beach today, some she knew and some new faces she didn't recognize. She came to a stop to stare at her friends swimming in the water, clearly having a good time without her. I'm just glad I didn't have to explain myself twice.
She turned to look over towards the parking lot, there were so many people out here, as her eyes scanned the area she noticed a guy farther away from the crowd. He looked somewhat familiar so she slowly made her way towards him until she could recognize who was reading his book on his towel. "Emmett." She grinned, waving over at him as she walked closer until she was standing just over him. It wasn't everyday that she ran into him unless at work after all.

at one point he had been sitting. while reading his book he turned to his side and then eventually he laid on his stomach. he was so lost in his reading he almost didn't remember where he was. it was someone calling out his name that brought him back to reality. he looked around for a couple of seconds until he spotted her.
what was riley doing out here? he asked himself before he closed his book and sat up."riley."he said with a nod."what's up?"he asked with a smile. honestly he was a bit surprised to see her out. usual the only place he'd see her was the bakery.
that wasn't to say that she didn't go out or something. he just didn't see her when he was out."what are you doing out here? i mean weren't you scheduled to work? was i suppose to work? did i miss the memo?"funny how everything seemed to revolve around the workplace. even when he was at the beach, his mind quickly thought about the bakery.

let's leave the world for the ones Riley couldn't help but feel excited to see that Emmett was here too. He asked his question, "Nothing much just walking the beach, how about you?" She returned the question right back at him. He had seemed surprised during his first question but she found herself somewhat amused during his second question. She raised her right hand to her mouth as she giggled softly. "Emmett." She answered as she tried figuring out how she would want to answer his question. "You still have the day off, relax." She waved her hand at him playfully before lowering it to her side again.
"We both have the day off." She looked back towards the ocean to see that her friends were still swimming in it. She looked back over at Emmett, a friendly smile on her lips. "My parents are scheduled right now. As for why I'm here." She lifted her right hand to point at a group of people swimming in the ocean, a mix of girls and guys in the group. "My friends wanted to go swimming and I tagged along." She paused taking a seat on the sand just next to him.

honestly there wasn't much interaction between the two outside of work. they rarely had a day off together. then again emmett kept to himself most of the time. he lifted the book he had been reading and set it back down."reading and sunbathing i guess. i might go swimming later, haven't really decided yet."he said with a chuckle.
he hoped he hadn't sounded like he was panicking. that's not what he meant to sound like. he was just a tad worried, of course most of the hard work was early in the morning. not to say that things didn't get busy. everyone was always mixing, measuring or baking. especially when they had big orders."sorry."he smiled slightly.
"right, its just unusual is all. i'll move over you don't have to sit on the sand."he said as he moved his bag and book. the beach towel was big enough for the both of them."but yet you've ditched them."he said teasingly.

let's leave the world for the ones Riley just smiled at Emmett, of course sunbathing was fun though she was still surprised he was here instead of swimming. But then again she was one to talk, she was out here but not swimming either. She grinned when he apologized, surprised when he offered for her to sit on the towel with him. "Are you sure?" She asked, standing to brush the sand off before taking a seat on his towel, though her legs were still on the sand so that she was taking less than her share. "Yeah... I suppose I have." She answered before adding, "I don't think it is that unusual."
She knew when his days off were, mostly because she worked full time with her parents but her friends always took advantage of her being off so that she could hang out with them. It was a rare moment for her to run into Emmett like this. "If I hadn't, I wouldn't have ran into you though." She added, having set her shoes on the sand so that her left hand had a break from holding them. "It is too late to join them now, I didn't bring a swim suit." There was no way in hell she was going in the water fully clothed either.

he nodded."im sure, if you hog up too much towel space i'll just kick you off."he said in a joking manner. he laughed after a couple seconds. he really wouldn't kick her off."ditching your friends or something else?"he asked her curiously.
he laughed slightly."i guess that's true, but you didn't have to ditch your friends just to come see me. you could of brought them along."he said jokingly."no, actually im kidding. im not great around crowds. i already get stared at enough when im working in the front. that isn't to say im not a people person, its just some people never know when to stop talking."he said rambling. he's had a costumer or two hold up the line. he wasn't sure how to to tell them to stop talking...politely.
he shook his head."really, i would of figured you would of planned ahead."he said jokingly."well you don't have to go swimming."he said with a nod."just get your feet wet. that should be good enough right?"

let's leave the world for the ones Riley giggled at his comment, of course she wasn't worried about him possibly kicking her off. It didn't bother her to sit on the sand but then again if he was willing to kick her off she might as well make an effort in getting back on right? She looked at him with surprise when he asked his question, "What ever do you mean?" She asked in a teasing manner, knowing exactly what he was asking. "So true..." She agreed at his suggestion, though even with him kidding she was tempted to call them over anyway. "I know what you mean." She nodded her head as she agreed with him.
She grinned at his comment, "More like made up my mind..." She had planned to go swimming she had just changed her mind before coming out here. She didn't feel ashamed for confessing that in front of him, why would she? It was just her personality was all. "I might consider that later..." His suggestion seemed like a good one, "Don't let that stop you from going swimming though." She teased as she looked over at the water once more. Walking in the sand was good enough for her, though getting her feet wet seemed like a nice idea too.

obviously she wasn't going to tell him and he wasn't going to force her."never mind."he said acting like he was disinterested. honestly he could care less. if she didn't want to tell him, then she didn't have to. his curiosity would eventually disappear. he could forget things so easily and other times it was like they were the only thing that were running through his head.
of course she knew what he meant. after all sometimes it was her handing the costumers. he chuckled softly."i'll just throw you in. there's plenty of day light left, im sure you'll dry."he said jokingly. he wasn't that mean. he nodded."of course. of course it all depends on how cold the water is."he said as his hand found the hot sand. it was soothing. he played with the sand as he tried to think of what to say.
they had been working for a long time, but he really didn't know much about her. it wasn't like he was forthcoming with his life story. obviously he wasn't going to tell her he was a wizard. half the towns folk didn't believe in magic. half of them didn't know what could go on or what was out there. of course emmett was the same way. even with magic, he had to see it to believe.

let's leave the world for the ones Riley pouted slightly when he gave his answer. The game seemed over now so she added, "I meant ditching my friends.... though I'm curious on what you thought the other option had been." Though she hadn't planned on pressing him on the matter. She gasped when he said he'd throw her in. "You wouldn't..." Though there was a high chance he was kidding, she couldn't help but feel like she would be best to prepare herself. "Why not find out for me?" She teased, tempted to steal his towel if he chose to get up to check the water.
Hmmm... now what? She thought to herself, not quite ready to leave him in peace but at the same time there seemed to be silence building between them. "Just don't linger near my friends too long... else you might lose a towel..." She teased, finding it would be easier to break the silence with something awkward over anything else. She didn't see the harm, seeing as he was likely to stay around her over joining her friends anyway, though if he did decide to get up she planned to make due on her threat and still his towel as promised.

he chuckled softly."didn't peg you for the type to give up so easily."he said teasingly as he continued to play with the warm sand. a playful smirk remained on his lips and he shrugged his shoulders."maybe. maybe not, depends if you're annoying me."he said with a wink.
"wouldn't it be the other way around. you should find out for me? even if i do have to pick you up and throw you in myself."he said laughing softly."don't worry i won't throw you in."
he looked at her curiously."was that a hint of jealous i hear in your tone? don't worry i won't steal your friends away from you."he said with a shake of his head. he had been so deep in conversation that he barely heard the screams. it seemed a game of volleyball went a bit too far. the ball was headed in their direction."heads up."he told her quickly before moving out of the way.

let's leave the world for the ones Riley just grinned at him, "Who said I gave up?" She teased, figuring getting thrown in the water wouldn't be that bad assuming he got wet too. "Is that all it takes?" She answered back as the grin remained on her face. "I suppose your right..." It was as if she was giving in but if there was a small chance he planned on tossing her in, she would be darned if he didn't fall in with her. "I'm not scared of a little bit of water." Though she knew the ocean was more than just a little bit, the phrase still fit how she felt about being thrown in.
She shrugged her shoulders at his question, "That is perfect, I don't mind sharing." She couldn't help but feel somewhat confused by his comment of her being possibly jealous if he were to go near her friends. She was pulled from her thoughts as Emmett had made his comment before moving away. She crossed her arms in front of her face as if to try and shield her face just as the ball made contact. It had gotten her in the right arm just after she had blocked her face with them. Well shoot, that sort of hurt....
Now that she was safe from the ball hitting her in the face, she went ahead and uncrossed her arms, rubbing her right arm with her left hand as to dim the pain before reaching out to grab the ball before tossing it back towards the crowd playing volleyball.

he left their past conversation and focused on what had just happened. he figured when he had picked his spot that this wouldn't happen. its why he had picked a place further away from people. the warning might of come a little late. then again he was having a good time with riley. all the chatter and screaming was background noise to him.
of course the one time he looks up it had too be the stupid ball coming towards them. there wasn't enough time to catch it. he warned her and he moved out of the way. no way was he going to get hit. obviously the players were shouting apologies and thanking them for the ball. he couldn't help but roll his eyes. it had been an accident after all."are you alright?"he said looking up at her. he wasn't sure where she had gotten hit. for one he knew it hadn't been her face. it wasn't till a few seconds later that he noticed how red her arm looked."it's not broken is it?"

let's leave the world for the ones Riley gave Emmett a brave smile when he asked her if she was alright. "I'll be alright." She answered before rubbing it once more before resting her arm against her body. One might think she was tired of holding it up but really she was just interested in hiding the redness on the other side. "I don't think so." She couldn't help but feel like she was dying on the inside. It better not be broken, I can't cook with a broken arm..... She thought to herself, somewhat nervous over the thought. "Now that the ball broke the silence, I think the water wants it next." It seemed easiest to just change the subject, though she was just hoping the distraction would make her forget about her sore arm.
Lucky for her, her friends were still swimming and had yet to notice that she had been hit by the ball. If they had taken notice, there wouldn't be away to avoid the extra unneeded attention. "Assuming you still plan on going anyway." That friendly smile was back on her face, it took a lot of effort to hide the pain she was feeling in her right arm. If I had known that ball was coming I might have tried to catch it, or at the very least had my hands take the full force but with my arm being hit, I fear that I might have at least bruised it. I suppose I should be grateful though, it could have been my face after all. She pulled herself out of her thoughts, being reminded that she had her cell phone in her pocket she took it out and set it next to her shoes, the rest of her stuff had been left in the car.
