[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]BIOGRAPHY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
What is life without tragedy? Cecil had his first brush with it right at his birth: he was welcomed into this world, his mother was taken from it. His father was a mix of complicated emotions, joy at the birth of his son and sorrow at the loss of his wife. He did his best to raise Cecil though, and Cecil can never remember feeling any resentment or hatred from his father. It was always love. [break] [break]
Looking back though, especially at his funeral, Cecil remember the bad days his father had were more frequent than the good. The days he would simply sit in his bed not moving and the nights he would cry himself to sleep. Perhaps is his father would have asked for help he might have lived longer, perhaps. [break][break]
The doctor said it was poor health that killed him. [break][break]
Cecil knew it was a broken heart. One that he was supposed to have healed. [break][break]
Cecil had managed to lose both his parents before his ninth birthday and was sent to live with his aunt and uncle, and what seemed like a million miles away from where he grew up. They took care of him and made sure he went to school, did his homework, made sure he kept his head above water. There was always a certain distance that they kept between each other. The hugs before bedtime were stiff and quickly stopped when Cecil hit his preteen years. A kiss on the cheek was rare and usually only before his uncle left for an extended trip. Exchanging an ‘I love you’ Cecil can’t say he remembers that. [break] [break]
They weren’t unloving. They just weren’t his parents. [break][break]
After graduation, at their insistence that they could afford it, Cecil enrolled in a local four year college. He had gained somewhat of a relationship with his aunt by helping her with the garden in their backyard and had found himself enjoying it immensely. Cecil had even done his own research on various plants and methods for growing, so a horticulture major seemed fine to him. [break][break]
Cecil had been planning on simply keeping his head down and graduating, maybe even in three years if he managed his classes right. Then she came into his life. [break][break]
It took Katherine almost a half a year to get Cecil to even carry a conversation with him, it took another six to actually convince Cecil that she was serious when she said she wanted to go on a date with him. [break] [break]
It didn’t take that long for Cecil to fall in love with her. But, what is love without tragedy? [break][break]
In the middle of their junior year, Katherine was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Her odds were not good. She decided to forgo aggressive treatment so she could live out as much of the rest of her life as she could. When Katherine passed away a few months later, Cecil felt himself break. [break][break]
He dropped out of school and moved back in with his aunt and uncle and for a while it was like he was a ghost of his father. Sitting in bed all day, crying himself to sleep at night. Time passed and one day his aunt came to him with a box from Katherine’s family. It had a few of Cecil’s things that they had found after going through Katherine’s things, books, a sweatshirt, old pictures, the usual things you’d leave at your lover’s place. There was also a letter though, with her handwriting on the envelope. [break][break]
It took Cecil a while to actually get the courage to read the letter, but soon after he did he pulled himself out of his bed and said he was moving out. [break][break]
His move took him to Symphonia where Cecil (with the help of his aunt and uncle) bought a small patch of land and established Thorne Flowers, the first thing he grew were the sunflowers that Katherine included in her letter, her favorite. Cecil has lived and worked in the town for the past three years, perfectly content with being the taciturn flower farmer on the edge of town. [break][break]
je t'aime, je t'aime toujours
